About this spot
Fuchu-no-Mori Park was created on the site of a former US military base, and its lawn spreads out generously. Since groves of trees surround the open area, choosing a shaded spot lets you lay down a picnic sheet and eat in peace. Families playing catch, people strolling through the Japanese garden, everyone uses the time differently. The splash pond is a short walk away, so you can rest thoroughly after eating before heading in for water play. The park also has a landscape pond and a fountain, and a lap around them makes for a pleasant post-meal walk.

府中の森公園 じゃぶじゃぶ池は、府中市の府中の森公園にある無料の水遊び場です。2026年のシーズンは7/1(水)〜9/30(水)、時間は9:30〜16:00で、都内の水遊び場としては朝が早く、閉場も遅めなので一日の組み立てがしやすいのが特長です。池は浅く造られており、小さな子どもでも自分の足で歩き回れる深さなので、親も見守りやすくなっています。まわりは芝生と木立で、遊び疲れたらすぐ日陰で休めるのが助かるところ。料金は無料で、園内にはトイレもあります。同じ園内に府中市美術館があるため、天気が急に崩れても行き先を切り替えられる安心感があります。
Tips
休止日は7/13・7/23・8/4・8/17・8/28・9/8・9/18です。雨天時も休止になることがあるので、出発前に公式のお知らせで開設状況を確認してください。テントの設置はできません。日よけはレジャーシートと木陰で対応しましょう。着替えの場所は限られるため、水着を下に着ていくと現地での支度が短く済みます。
Tips
Tents may not be set up, so use the tree shade and a picnic sheet for sun protection. Picking up your bento around Fuchu Station before entering the park makes things go smoothly. Trash must be taken home as a rule, so bring plenty of bags. Avoid entering the water right after eating; waiting 20 to 30 minutes before heading off to change is safer.
Best time to visit
About 50 minutes. The trick is to let the strongest sunlight pass while you sit in the shade
