Otori Shrine (大鳥神社)

About this spot

Standing where Meguro-dori and Yamate-dori avenues cross, this is said to be the oldest shrine in Meguro City. Legends connected to Yamato Takeru (日本武尊) survive here, and it is also known as a shrine that holds the Tori-no-Ichi fair. Step into the grounds and the air changes as trees close around you, with a stillness you would not expect beside such a busy intersection. It is not large, but that means families with children can pay their respects pleasantly in a short time. It is close to Meguro Station and easy to drop by as the starting point of the day.

ポケットオアシス清水じゃぶじゃぶ池・流れは、目黒区の清水にある無料の水遊び場です。2026年の稼働期間は7/1(水)から9/30(水)まで、時間は9:00〜16:30で、区の公式表記は「7月第1週から9月末頃まで」となっています。名前のとおりポケットのように小さな広場で、住宅街のなかにぽつんと開かれた水辺という趣があります。水は塩素等で消毒管理されており、水深も浅いので、歩きはじめの小さな子どもでも自分の足で歩き回れます。規模が大きくない分、目が届きやすく、はじめての水遊びデビューにも向いています。料金は無料で、思い立った日に気軽に出かけられます。

Tips

月1回ほど点検日があり、その日は利用できません。点検日時は現地に掲示されるので、出発前に区の公式ページで開設状況を確認してください。飲食物の持込とペットの入水はできません。水遊び用サンダルの着用が推奨されているので、かかとの留まるタイプを用意しましょう。日陰が少ないため、休憩用の大きめのタオルと帽子があると快適です。

Tips

The grounds are not at all large, so a visit takes about 15 minutes. The hours when the shrine office is staffed vary by day, so check in advance if you want a goshuin seal stamp. There is heavy traffic around the shrine, so do not let go of children's hands in front of and behind the torii gate. Shade is limited to the area under the trees.
