Yoyogi Hachimangu Shrine (代々木八幡宮)

About this spot

This shrine sits atop a hill close to Yoyogi-Hachiman Station (代々木八幡駅) on the Odakyu Line and is said to have been founded in the Kamakura period. Climb the stone steps and a precinct enveloped in groves of trees opens up, wrapped in a stillness hard to believe is in central Tokyo. Traces of a Jomon-period settlement were found on the grounds, and the reconstructed pit dwelling is a major highlight. Children are amazed by the thatched house whose roof reaches down to the ground, and they begin to imagine how people lived long ago. The surrounding area is a calm residential neighborhood, so even the walk to the approach path is pleasant.

幡ヶ谷新道公園親水施設（水遊び場）は、渋谷区の幡ヶ谷新道公園にある無料の水遊び場です。2026年の開設期間は7/1(水)から9/24(木)まで、時間は9:00〜17:00で、夕方まで開いているので一日の組み立てがしやすいのが特徴です。水深は浅く造られているため、歩きはじめの小さな子どもでも自分の足で歩いて遊べます。京王線の幡ヶ谷駅や初台駅から歩ける住宅街の中にあり、電車だけで通えるのも都心らしい便利さです。料金は無料なので、天気を見て気軽に出かけられます。大きなプールのような行列がないぶん、親子でのんびり過ごせる遊び場です。

Tips

清掃日にあたる毎週水曜日の午後は利用できません。午後を予定している日が水曜にあたる場合は日程を変えるか、渋谷区の公式ページで状況を確認してください。気象状況によって開設が変更になることもあります。飲食物の持込とペットの入水はできません。着替えの場所は限られるため、水着を下に着ていくと現地での支度が短く済みます。

Tips

Stone steps lead up to the precinct, so with a stroller look for the entrance on the gentler slope side. The reconstructed dwelling is outdoors, so a hat is needed when the sun is strong. Shrine office hours vary by day, so check in advance if you would like a goshuin seal. The precinct is a quiet place, so tell children beforehand not to run around.
