About this spot

This small hilltop park sits south of Nakano Station, next to the cultural facility Nakano ZERO. True to its name, it has plenty of trees, and beneath them at the top of the stairs or slope it feels noticeably cooler than the surrounding streets. With benches and an open area, it's just the right size to spread out a picnic sheet and eat lunch. The changes in elevation also give children a chance to play simply by climbing up and down. It's within walking distance of the venue, Miyanodai Children's Park.

Tips

Trash generally needs to be taken home, so bring a few extra bags. There are many stairs and slopes, so if you have a stroller, check at the entrance for a passable route. Shaded spots tend to fill up early, so arriving around 11:00 is comfortable. Since the afternoon session starts at 13:00, plan to start moving by 12:20.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 5 minutes. Eating lunch under the trees leaves plenty of energy for the afternoon
