About this spot

Standing on a hill directly ahead of the wide pedestrian promenade leading from Tama Center Station, this is Tama City's multi-purpose cultural facility. Inside are exhibits introducing the history of Tama, letting visitors compare life in the rural hills and farming villages before Tama New Town's development with the process of the new town taking shape. For children, it's a chance to learn what the town they live in or the park they've come to play in originally looked like. The facility houses a hall, a museum, and spaces for children, among others, so you can spend time there regardless of the weather. The tree-lined promenade connecting the station to the facility offers pleasant scenery typical of Tama Center, even just for a walk.

Tips

Please check Parthenon Tama's official website for opening days, hours, and exhibition admission fees before heading over. It can get crowded on event days. There are stairs continuing from the station to the facility, so if you're using a stroller, it helps to check the elevator location in advance.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 15 minutes. Mornings right after opening are quiet for viewing.
