Isahaya Kantaku no Sato Splash Channel (諫早市干拓の里 じゃぶじゃぶ水路)
Flow of the course
About this spot
The Isahaya Kantaku no Sato Splash Channel is a free water play spot on the grounds. In 2026 it is open daily except closure days from Saturday, July 18 through Monday, August 31, and in September only on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays through Sunday, September 27, from 10:00 to 16:30. Since the water comes from a groundwater source, it stays refreshingly cool even in midsummer, and the contrast with the outside air is enough to make you gasp at first. The channel is shallow with no real depth, so even children who have just started walking can wade across on their own with a caregiver holding their hand. You can walk upstream following the current, crouch down and pat the water's surface, or sit on the channel's edge with just your feet in — the range of ways to play, suited to different ages, is one of the best things about this spot. There's an indoor rest house on the grounds, so you can always retreat there to cool off if you get chilled or the sun feels too strong. Since admission became free on April 1, 2026, it's now easy to drop in for even a short water-play visit without worry.

Tips
Use of the channel is free. Some spots in the channel can be slippery, so have children wear water shoes with a sturdy sole. Bring a change of clothes for everyone, and don't forget a plastic bag for wet clothing. Water play isn't available on closure days, so check Isahaya City's official website for open days before heading out. In September it's open only on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, with Sunday, September 27 as the last day. Since it closes at 16:30, starting to wrap up around 16:00 — allowing time to change and pack up — makes for a relaxed trip home. The groundwater is colder than you'd expect, so take breaks before lips start turning blue.
Best time to visit
About 2 hours 15 minutes. Arriving just after 14:00 lets you miss the peak sun and still enjoy solid play time until closing
