This beach in the Shizunami area of Makinohara City is known nationwide as a popular surfing spot. In 2026 it's open from July 17 (Fri) through August 31 (Mon), with swimming hours from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Its wide sandy beach and open horizon offer a sense of openness you can't get at an inland park. The morning sunlight is gentle, making it a good time to walk the water's edge or search for seashells. You'll spot surfers riding boards offshore, and just watching them is enough to keep children entertained. Keep the play here light, since you'll be saving your energy for water play at the park in the afternoon.

Tips

Swimming conditions are rated in three levels — safe, caution, or prohibited — depending on sea conditions. Always follow the lifeguards' instructions, and don't swim outside the designated hours. If you plan to swim properly, you'll need two changes of clothes, so it's reassuring to pack extra. The sand has no shade and gets hot, so have children wear sandals. Since seawater leaves salt on the skin, rinse off your body and hair well before heading to the park.
