This memorial museum traces the footsteps of Higashiyama Kaii, a Japanese-style painter who lived in Ichikawa City for many years. The building, with its tower reminiscent of his time studying in Germany, is striking, and inside you can calmly view materials related to the painter's life and work. His quiet painting style, based on blue and green tones, gently soothes feelings flushed by the summer heat. The museum is not large, so it can be toured comfortably even with children. Since it is air-conditioned, it also serves as a good place to rest before heading to the afternoon's pool.
Tips
Admission is around 520 yen for general visitors, and the museum may close during exhibition changes. Please check opening days in advance through Ichikawa City's information. Since it is a place for quiet viewing, it helps to remind young children beforehand to stay calm inside.
Best time to visit
About 40 minutes. A good way to spend the hottest part of the day indoors.
