Next stop: Move your body in the grassy plaza, then enjoy an early lunch of the area's famous pork dishesAbout this spot
An ancient shrine connected to Koma District, founded by people who came from Goguryeo, located in a green area of Hidaka City. The approach path is sheltered by trees, so the air feels cool even in midsummer. On the grounds stands the Koma Family Residence, a thatched-roof old house dating back to the Edo period, whose exterior can be viewed. Since explaining the history directly can be difficult for children, telling them 'a shrine built by people who crossed the sea from a faraway country' makes it easier for them to take interest. The spacious parking lot is also convenient for stopping by car.
Tips
The approach path is covered in gravel, so there are places where a stroller can be hard to push. Mosquitoes can appear on summer mornings, so insect repellent will help you stay comfortable. It's only about a 10-minute drive to Hidaka City Public Pool, making it an easy stop to fit into your schedule.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour. Visiting in the cool of the morning is the most pleasant time.
