Hidaka City Public Pool is a summer-only outdoor pool open from July 18 to August 25, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Its biggest feature is that a single large body of water is divided into three sections of 50m, 25m, and 20m, each with a different water depth. Children who want to swim long distances can head to the 50m side, while those still unsure about swimming can choose the shallower side, letting everyone pick a spot suited to their ability. There's also a toddler pool with a slide, so even children who have just gotten used to water can go play on their own. Fees are 300 yen for adults, 100 yen for elementary and junior high school students, and free for preschoolers, making it affordable to visit again and again during summer vacation.

The pool is closed on July 27 and August 12, so plan around those dates. It opens at 10:00 AM and closes at 5:00 PM. Since it can be hard to tell where the depth changes in some spots, it's reassuring to check with your child beforehand how far in they're allowed to go.
