Sayama-ike Park (狭山池公園)

Flow of the course

About this spot

A park built around one of Japan's oldest large reservoirs, with a shoreline of about 3 km, featuring a promenade that circles the pond and open lawns. Also known as a spot for cherry blossoms and autumn foliage, the shaded promenade makes for a pleasant summer stroll. Since this park is also the venue for tonight's fireworks display, checking out the size of the pond and the promenade during the day can help you decide where to watch from later. With plenty of benches, it's a great place to walk at a relaxed pace, taking breaks along the way.

Tips

Right next to the museum. Shade is limited in summer, so a hat or parasol will help keep you comfortable while strolling. The path around the pond is wide, making it easy to walk with a stroller.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. The soft afternoon light beautifully highlights the surface of the pond.
