A long, narrow park running along the north bank of the Oyodo River (大淀川), which flows through central Miyazaki City. The palm-lined promenade is a quintessentially Miyazaki scene, and simply walking along it gives you the feeling of having arrived in the tropics. The breeze crossing the wide Oyodo River is cool, making it perfect for a morning stroll. Nearby is Tachibana Bridge (橘橋), and the view of the river and cityscape from the bridge is pleasant and open. It's just the right size for a short stop before the pool.
Tips
Some sections of the riverbank have no fence, so keep a close eye on small children. Shade is limited to the area beneath the palm trees, so a hat is reassuring to bring. As this is in the city center, parking means using a nearby paid parking lot.
Best time to visit
About 25 minutes. The time when the morning river breeze is cool is the easiest for walking.
