About this spot

This is Sekinoo Park Pool (関之尾公園プール), an outdoor pool in Sekinoo Park in Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture. It opens each year from mid-July through the end of August, and in 2026 it opens on Saturday, July 18. Its biggest feature is that it uses well water sourced from the Kirishima mountain range. The feel of the water is completely different from a chlorinated tap-water pool -- the crisp, cold, clear sensation is unforgettable once experienced. You can swim properly in the 25-meter pool, and there's also a kids' pool with a water slide for little ones, so siblings of different ages can each enjoy it their own way. Sekinoo Falls flows right nearby, and spending the afternoon surrounded by nature and the sound of water is a luxury you can't get at a pool in the city.

Be sure to check fees, opening hours, and the 2026 closing date in advance through Miyakonojo City's official information. Since well water is used, the water temperature runs on the cooler side, so staying in too long can chill you. It's reassuring to get out and warm up periodically and to bring something to wrap up in. Wearing a swim cap is generally required at public pools. Since it's within walking distance of Sekinoo Falls, you can share the same parking lot. Weekends during summer vacation get crowded, so arriving early is recommended.

Best time to visit

If you enter at 12:45 pm, you'll have more than 3 hours until evening. Since the water is cold, pacing your play with breaks in between works well.
