This roadside station in Kamioka sits along National Route 41, marked by its large dome-shaped building. Kamioka is world-renowned for Super-Kamiokande, an elementary particle astrophysics observation facility set deep underground. This roadside station has an exhibit corner introducing that research, giving children a sense that work exploring the origins of the universe is being carried out right here in the local area. It also has Hida specialty products and restaurants, making it a good spot to have lunch before heading to the pool in the afternoon.
Tips
The exhibit content and opening hours may change depending on the facility's operations, so it's worth checking in advance. Restaurants get crowded around lunchtime, so arriving a little early lets you eat at a more relaxed pace. You can also pick up drinks and snacks to bring to the pool here.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 20 minutes. You can have lunch and take a break all in one stop
