A facility that handles everything from pressing to processing olives grown by making the most of Etajima's warm climate and the Seto Inland Sea sunlight. It's surprising enough that olives, an image usually associated with the Mediterranean, are grown on a Japanese island. The shop sells freshly pressed olive oil along with olive-based sweets and processed goods, and you can taste the differences in flavor through samples. The sight of rows of silvery olive leaves, with the Seto Inland Sea spreading out beyond them, is a combination unique to this island. It's a convenient stop for lunch or shopping before heading to the pool.
Tips
Check the opening days and hours, and whether tours are available, in advance. It's also worth checking whether a cafe or food service is available, to make lunch planning easier. The season during which you can view the olive trees may be limited. There is a parking lot. Getting around the island is basically by car, so consider a rental car or bringing your car over on the ferry.
Best time to visit
About 45 minutes. You can take care of lunch and shopping together.
