Ushiki Castle Ruins Park (牛岐城趾公園)

Flow of the course

About this spot

A park built on a hilltop overlooking the town of Tomioka in central Anan City. This was once the site of a castle, and today it has stone steps and paths maintained as a relaxing spot for local residents. From the hilltop you can look out over the streets of Anan and the mountains beyond, and in the clear morning air the view stretches far into the distance. It's not a large park, but that means you can go around it in a short time, making it a perfect stop to fill the time before the pool opens. The area beneath the trees is shaded, so you can rest there after climbing the steps.

Tips

You'll climb stone steps up to the hilltop, so hold hands with small children. If you have a stroller, don't push it up, just viewing from below is enough. Parking space is limited, so it's safer to use a parking lot in the city center. Since the pool is only open in the morning, keep your visit brief so you can leave by 9:50.

Best time to visit

About 25 minutes. In the clear morning air, you can see far into the distance.
