Anan City Nakagawa B&G Marine Center Pool is an uncovered outdoor pool on the west side of Hirajima Elementary School. In 2026 it is open on Saturday July 25, Sunday July 26, Saturday August 1, Sunday August 2, and from Thursday August 6 through Sunday August 30, closed on Mondays. As a heatstroke-prevention measure, it operates mornings only, so be sure to check the schedule and hours before you go. There are two pools, a 25m pool and a children's pool, so older kids can practice swimming in the 25m pool while younger ones get used to the water in the shallow pool, all in the same location. Admission is 300 yen for high school students and up, 200 yen for elementary and junior high school students, free for preschool children, with accompanying adults charged. Since you'll wrap up in the morning, having a relaxed afternoon is also a welcome plus for families.

As a heatstroke-prevention measure it's open mornings only, and the hours may also change. Since there's no roof, sunlight hits directly. Reapply sunscreen frequently and stay well hydrated. Accompanying adults are also charged, so it's reassuring to have coins ready for everyone in your group.

Best time to visit

Since it's open mornings only, arriving right at opening lets you play the longest. Going before temperatures climb too high is also easier on the body.
