About this spot
This is Nagoya City Atsuta Pool (名古屋市熱田プール), an outdoor pool in Jingu Higashi Park in Atsuta Ward, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture. In 2026 it is open from Monday, July 20 to Monday, August 31, from 10:00 to 17:30. It's a cold-water pool with seven 25-meter lanes for practice swimming plus a 170-square-meter children's pool, and this chill is a real treat during Nagoya's notoriously hot summers. Because the lanes are separated, children practicing their swimming can use it calmly too. The children's pool is shallow, designed so little ones can get used to the water while standing on their own feet. Admission is 300 yen for adults, 100 yen for children, and 100 yen for city residents aged 65 and over, and an 11-ticket coupon book makes it especially good value for families visiting repeatedly over summer break. Surrounded by the greenery of Jingu Higashi Park, it's also easy to find shade to rest in.

Tips
The pool is closed on July 22, 27 and August 3, 17, 24. Since closures are by specific date rather than day of the week, be sure to check Nagoya City's official page for opening days before you go. An 11-ticket coupon book is available, so if you plan multiple visits over the summer, buying it on your first trip is more economical. Shade is limited, so bring a rash guard and sunscreen, and take regular breaks to rest and hydrate.
Best time to visit
Entering at 13:00 gives you a full 4 hours until evening. Things get much more comfortable after 15:00, when the sunlight softens.
