Tanakami Park Pool (田上公園プール)

Flow of the course

About this spot

Tanakami Park Pool is an outdoor pool in Otsu City, open in 2026 from Monday, July 20 through Monday, August 31. It has two pools, a 25m pool and a kiddie pool, so kids wanting to practice swimming and little ones not yet used to the water can each have their own space. It operates on a shift system, from 9am to noon and 1pm to 4pm, with a break from noon to 1pm. This shift system keeps the number of people in at once down, which is the nice thing about it, it doesn't get too crowded. Use the full afternoon session and you can play for a solid 3 hours. Located in a park at the foot of the Tanakami mountains, it's surrounded by plenty of greenery, and being able to rest in the shade after getting out of the water is another pleasant point. Admission is 490 yen for adults, and 330 yen for children (junior-high age and under), those 65 and over, and people with disabilities.

Tips

Since it's a shift system, arriving a bit early for the 1pm start lets you make the most of the afternoon session. Check Otsu City's official information for the latest on opening status and usage rules. Swim caps may be required, so it's reassuring to bring one for each family member. The 25m pool has some depth, so shorter children should use the kiddie pool, and a guardian must always stay with them. Shaded resting spots are limited, so bring extra leisure sheets and towels.

Best time to visit

About 3 hours. Arriving in time for the start of the afternoon session lets you make the most of your time.
