Next stop: A 6-lane 25m pool, a whole afternoon for just 100 yenAbout this spot
A large dam lake in Tadami Town, its surface stretching out endlessly, surrounded by the mountains of Oku-Tadami. The area around it is deep forest, and despite being artificial, the lake has the presence of a natural feature. From spots with good views, you can take in the whole lake, and its scale is overwhelming. Because the region is closed off by heavy snow in winter, visiting in summer is a privilege limited to a certain season. The drive itself along the road that follows the lakeshore is a pleasant experience. It's a place where you can see with your own eyes just how abundant Tadami's water is.
Tips
Viewing is free. The road runs through mountain terrain, so allow plenty of time when driving. If you stop to take in the view, make sure to choose a proper place to park. Only limited spots allow access down to the lakeshore, and some areas are dangerous, so don't approach them. There are few shops nearby, so bring your own drinks.
Best time to visit
Takes about 1 hour. On a clear day, the lake surface appears a deep blue.
