About this spot
This ancient temple stands deep in the valley of Nikaido, and its mountain-embraced grounds are a noted spot for colorful maples. The best viewing period is usually from late November to mid-December, making it one of the places in Kamakura where the autumn leaves last the longest. Admission is 500 yen for adults and 200 yen for elementary and junior high school students. In 2025, a special autumn leaves viewing was held from November 28 to December 10, open from 9:00 to 19:00 (last admission 18:40), with a light-up event held in the evening as well. The 2026 schedule has not yet been announced, so please check the official announcement for dates and times. Experiencing the autumn leaves amid the stillness of the valley is truly special.
