One of the largest Western-style houses in Yamate, its white walls and arched windows make a striking impression. Many rooms are open to visitors — a hall, a children's room, bedrooms, and more — and touring them while gazing at the greenery of the front garden through the windows, imagining life at the time, feels like stepping into a story. Free to enter, open 9:30-17:00. Take your time moving through room by room to savor an afternoon in Yamate.

Tips

Closed on the second Wednesday of every month (or the following day if that is a holiday) and over the New Year period (Dec 29-Jan 3). Other Western-style houses, such as Ehrismann House (エリスマン邸), are within walking distance, so if you have time, it's worth stopping by even just to see the exterior.
