About this spot

This garden, operated by the City of Yokohama, is located in Higashi-Matano-cho, Totsuka Ward. It features the Matano Villa, a rebuilt early-Showa-era Japanese-Western style residence, and a spacious garden made up of an inner and outer garden, which can be strolled through free of charge. Open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (until 6:30 PM in July and August). With lawns and paths through a grove of trees, it's a comfortable size to walk with children. Touring the interior of the villa costs ¥400 for adults and is free for elementary school students and younger.

Tips

The garden is closed on the third Thursday of every month (or the following day if that Thursday is a public holiday). In summer, take your time and rest on the shaded benches as you go around.
