Jokenji Temple (浄見寺)
Flow of the course
About this spot
A temple of the Jodo sect said to have been founded in 1611 (the 16th year of the Keicho era), and the family temple of the Oka family, which produced the famed Edo-era magistrate Oka Echizen-no-kami Tadasuke (大岡越前守忠相). The family burial ground, with the gravestones of successive generations of the Oka family lined up in neat rows, is a city-designated historic site. It is also an enjoyable place to walk through the quiet, tree-lined grounds with children while talking about samurai dramas. The Folklore Museum adjoins this temple.
