About this spot

A public observatory that reopened after renovation in 2017. Known as a facility where visitors can 'see stars both day and night,' it features twin domes with some of Kyushu's largest reflecting telescopes, 100cm and 65cm, and specialist staff guide visitors to the celestial objects best viewed during that season. There is also an outdoor wooden deck space dedicated to stargazing.

Tips

Closed every Tuesday. Admission plans include adult observation for 700 yen and a set ticket for 900 yen, among others (from April 1, Reiwa 8). Overnight guests can join the special observation program after 22:00 free of charge.
