About this spot

Uonuma City's astronomical observation facility, located at the summit of Suhara Ski Resort (elevation 555m). It has an observation dome equipped with a 400mm reflecting telescope. 'The Starry Sky and Stargazing' event is held every year from May to October, by reservation only (first-come, first-served, capacity 15), from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. The participation fee is 200 yen for high school students and up, 100 yen for elementary and junior high school students, and 70 yen for children aged 5 and up.

Tips

Entry is not allowed for those without a reservation. Check the dates in the fiscal year's 'Stargazing Session Schedule' and reserve in advance with Suhara Ski Resort (025-797-2059). The summit gets cold at night, so bring warm clothing.
