About this spot

A small station serving as the gateway to Onuma Park, with dango shops and souvenir stores known as specialties of southern Hokkaido lining the area in front of the station. After getting a little tired from boating, it's a local tradition to satisfy a small appetite with dango featuring the classic sweet soy glaze and red bean paste varieties. It's also a good time to look for souvenirs, and on the day of the fireworks display, the crowds gradually build toward the evening.

Tips

A few minutes' walk from Onuma Park. Early afternoon, before it gets crowded, is recommended for relaxed shopping. On the day of the fireworks display, the area in front of the station also gets crowded at night, so finishing your souvenir shopping now lets you move around more freely later.

About 45 minutes. A good time for an afternoon snack.
