A one-day walking tour in Shuri, Naha, Okinawa, retracing the legacy of the Ryukyu Kingdom. The morning starts at Shuri Castle Park, where the vermillion castle stands out against the blue sky. After passing through the Shureimon (Shureimon Gate), you walk the royal castle path up to the main palace area currently undergoing restoration. Next, you encounter the stone mausoleum at Tamaudun (Tamaudun), a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and feel the prayers of the royal dynasty. For lunch, head to Shuri Soba (Shuri Soba), famous for its hand-pulled noodles with clear broth to rejuvenate you for the afternoon. You then slowly descend the Kinjo-cho Stone-paved Street, lined with Ryukyuan limestone. Along the way, you meet the great Akagi tree, said to be over 200 years old, and finish with a garden walk at Shikina-en (Shikina-en), the largest villa of the Ryukyu royal family, gazing at the hexagonal pavilion floating on the pond.
