2026 Shinshika Beach - Full Day Course
A one-day course centered around Shinshika Beach (新鹿海水浴場) in Kumano City, Mie Prefecture, which opens from July 5, 2026 (Sunday) through August 31, 2026 (Monday). In the morning, first visit Onigajo (鬼ヶ城), a scenic spot representing Kumano's coastline. Enjoy the impressive walk through the large caves carved by rough waves, then head to nearby Shishi Iwa (獅子岩). This unique rock formation, which appears to roar toward the sea, is also popular as a photo spot. Next, stop by Hananoiwaya Shrine (花の窟神社), believed to be Japan's oldest shrine, to pray for safe travels. At noon, enjoy Kumano's local flavors at a roadside station to refuel, then head to Shinshika Beach. Swimming is free, toilets at two locations are free to use, and camping and BBQ are also possible. From a morning spent experiencing Kumano's nature and history to an afternoon highlighted by beach swimming, enjoy a full summer day immersed in all that Kumano has to offer.
