Panoramic Views of Layered Mountains
About this spot
An observation park situated about 300 meters above sea level on the east side of Shikano Mountain, overlooking the Kazusa Hills. The mountains that fold upon one another are known as "Kuzu Valley," a scenic masterpiece that inspired works by Japanese painter Togyu Higashiyama. It is also renowned for sea-of-clouds formations that blanket the valleys during early mornings from fall to winter.
Tips
The park has a parking lot and restroom, making it easy to stop by quickly. As the highland is exposed to wind, bring a light jacket for children. Resting on the benches while enjoying the view is recommended.
Best time to visit
Allow 20–30 minutes; the light in the afternoon highlights the mountain ridges beautifully.
