Stroll Along a Steam-filled Promenade and Rest at a Free Foot Bath
About this spot
A park on the west side of the hot spring town where hot spring water bubbles up everywhere, and steam drifts through a green valley creating a unique landscape. Along the promenade are emerald-green pools of hot spring water and large free foot baths. Even a simple stroll captures the essence of Kusatsu. The Nishinokawara Street continuing from Yubatake is a treasure trove of walkable food.
Tips
The park has slopes and gravel paths; a baby carrier may be more practical than a stroller. Some foot baths are quite hot—check the temperature with your hand before letting children enter. Having lunch on Nishinokawara Street on the way back makes for a smooth flow.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour. Late morning is ideal for strolling.
