About this spot

A roadside station standing along the clear waters of the Tone River. At its signature fisheries learning center, you can observe freshwater fish such as char and rainbow trout that live in the upper reaches of the river through an underwater tunnel. It also has a stand selling local vegetables and a restaurant, and is a convenient starting point for the Suwa Gorge walking trail. It's the perfect stop for a break during a drive.

Tips

It's a convenient base for exploring Suwa Gorge and has a fairly large parking lot. The restaurant gets crowded around lunchtime, so it's best to arrive early. The soft-serve ice cream made with local fresh milk is also popular.

Best time to visit

Allow 1.5 hours. The restaurant tends to get crowded around midday.
