About this spot

An artificial cave roughly 400m long, dug over half a lifetime by businessman Tokuzo Yamada (山田徳蔵). Stone-carved Kannon statues appear one after another in the dim cave, making it a fun adventure that captivates children. The adjoining Japanese garden, Tokumeien (徳明園), is famous for its beautiful autumn foliage and offers a hidden gem adults can enjoy at a relaxed pace too.

Tips

The cave stays cool even in summer, so bring something to layer on. The pathway is mostly flat, so even preschoolers can get through it if you go slowly.

Best time to visit

Allow 40-60 minutes. A hidden gem that's rarely crowded.
