A museum located in Ashikuraji, the home of Tateyama faith, focused on the relationship between Tateyama's nature and people. The exhibition hall introduces the picture explanations of Tateyama mandalas and the history of alpine faith, helping visitors understand why people have long revered Tateyama as a "sacred mountain." This dispersed-style museum has various facilities scattered throughout the settlement, including the exhibition hall, Yōbōkan (viewing hall), and Mandara Yūen (Mandala Play Park), where you can experience the world of the mandala with all five senses—a sense of mystery and adventure for children. The grand nature of Tateyama that you've admired all morning becomes a stage for stories, making this the perfect conclusion to your day.
Tips
Admission to the exhibition hall is around 300 yen for adults, and combination tickets with Mandara Yūen are available. Since facilities are scattered throughout the settlement, it's best to plan your route around the exhibition hall depending on your available time. The surrounding area is a quiet mountain village of cedar groves, and a walk to the Oyama Shrine Chūgū Prayer Hall is also pleasant. Free parking is available. Check closing times before planning your route.

Allow approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. The slanting light of evening beautifully illuminates the mountain village settlement.
