Enjoy spectacular scenery and walkways at the hidden gem station floating on the lake
About this spot
A spectacular hidden gem station known as the "station floating on the lake," standing at the tip of a peninsula jutting into Lake Sesetsu. Trains cross a red iron bridge spanning the emerald-green lake to enter the station—the view from the train window alone is breathtaking. A walkway alongside the iron bridge leads to an observation point on the opposite shore, offering expansive views of the lake and mountains. The landscape of lake, mountains, and trains makes for a perfect family photo backdrop.
Tips
The walkway to the observation point has many stairs, so a baby carrier is safer than a stroller. With infrequent train service, be sure to check the return departure time before exploring. The path can be slippery when wet, so wear comfortable shoes.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 1 hour. On clear days around midday, the lake's colors are most vibrant.
