About this spot

A historic amusement park that opened in 1929, spread across the summit of Mt. Ikoma at an elevation of 642 meters. Admission is free, and you only pay for the rides you want to experience, so families with small children can enjoy it at their own pace. The iconic "Flying Tower" has been in operation since the park's opening and is the oldest surviving large-scale amusement ride in Japan. As it slowly rotates in the sky, you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the Nara Basin and Osaka Plain. Most rides are centered on those suitable for toddlers and up, such as the merry-go-round, making it perfect for a first amusement park experience. There's also an outdoor play area called "PLAY PEAK ITADAKI" for children who want to move their bodies and play. Enjoying lunch at the summit in the park's clear mountain air is another highlight of this course.

Tips

Right next to Ikoma Summit Cable Car Station. Ride tickets can be purchased individually or as an all-day pass, depending on how many rides you want (ITADAKI requires separate admission). The park is closed seasonally (December to mid-March) and has weekday closures, so check the operating calendar in advance. There are restaurants and light food vendors in the park, and you can navigate with a stroller.

Best time to visit

About 2.5 hours. Arriving before lunch keeps wait times for rides short, and on clear days, you can see as far as Osaka
