Walk a quiet approach from Kamado Station and visit an ancient shrine nestled in greenery

An ancient shrine dedicated to Hikoisetseno-mikoto (彦五瀬命), the elder brother of Japan's first emperor Jinmu, with Kamado Mausoleum, where Hikoisetseno-mikoto is said to be buried, resting alongside the shrine building. Though once ranked as an Imperial State Shrine, it retains a quiet charm far removed from the glitter of tourist attractions, with white pebble approaches and lush sacred groves that calm the spirit. The 10-minute walk through residential neighborhoods from Kamado Station on the Kishu Line is itself an enjoyable part of the local railway experience. The 'Saigoku Three Shrines Pilgrimage' visiting Hichimi, Kamado, and Itakiso has been an inherited local custom for centuries, and this shrine is the second in that pilgrimage. With few visitors and a serene grounds, it's a place where families with small children can worship without hesitation.
Tips
Approximately 10 minutes on foot from Kamado Station. The approach is nearly flat and easy to walk with a stroller. A parking lot is available for car visits. There are few shops or restaurants nearby, so bringing drinks is recommended. The Kishu Line has limited service, so check the schedule for the next train to Itakiso Station before worshipping to ensure smooth travel.

Approximately 45 minutes. Early morning hours have fewer visitors, allowing you to savor the serene grounds slowly.
