A roadside station in Wani, Otsu City, said to be the birthplace of Ono no Imago, an envoy to the Sui Dynasty, located conveniently near the Wani IC on the Kosei Expressway for a drive break. The shop displays Shiga specialties and fresh vegetables from the Kosei region, with specialties being numerous Omigyu beef dishes. The restaurant offers Omigyu beef bowls and steaks, and a popular quick bite is Omigyu beef croquettes at the shop. The facility also has a tourism information corner, useful for checking out attractions in the Kosei region. This is a reliable stopping point on a Lake Biwa drive where you can gather souvenirs for friends and a treat for yourself all in one place, rounding off a visit to Biwako Valley and lakeside walks.
Tips
Located immediately adjacent to the Wani IC (National Route 161 Bypass) on the Kosei Expressway with spacious parking, making vehicle access excellent. Popular Omigyu beef croquettes may sell out, so early purchase is recommended if you find them. If using the restaurant, check operating hours and last order times in advance. With 24-hour accessible rest areas and restrooms, it's convenient for a quick drive break.
