About this spot

A massive market stretching 170 meters with about 60 specialty shops crammed along its corridor—fish, dried goods, produce, meat, and local sake—known as "Hachinohe's Kitchen." Fresh seafood from the Sanriku offshore waters lines the ice displays, and the venue draws both locals and tourists hunting for Hachinohe specialties like squid and mackerel, plus seasonal shellfish. The biggest attraction is Shichirinmura, a charcoal barbecue facility where you can grill seafood bought at the market right on-site. The moment scallops and squid sizzle over charcoal is an unforgettable reward for food hopping enthusiasts. Inside the facility are sushi and seafood bowl restaurants, as well as shops serving local dishes like senbei-jiru, making this the second major destination for experiencing Hachinohe's food culture after the morning market.

Tips

About 10 minutes by local bus from Hachinohe Station, with ample free parking for about 1,500 vehicles. Shichirinmura has limited seating and gets crowded on weekend afternoons, so register first before shopping. Note that many shops close on Wednesdays. Bringing a cooler bag makes it easy to safely take home fresh fish and delicacies as souvenirs.

Best time to visit

Plan for about 2 hours. Arrive in the late morning when selection is full and enter Shichirinmura before the lunch rush for smooth service.
