A celebrated scenic spot representative of Kosode Kaigan, this is a spectacular rocky formation jutting into the sea with a tunnel-like opening pierced through its center. According to local legend, the opening was named after a bell-shaped rock that once hung inside it—the bell portion was lost in the Great Sanriku Tsunami of the Meiji era, but the dramatic rock tunnel remains intact to this day. Standing out brilliantly against the rugged cliffs and white waves characteristic of the Sanriku Coast, it captivates visitors just by gazing upon it from the car. Early summer visitors might catch a glimpse of sunrise rays streaming through the tunnel, making it a favorite among photography enthusiasts. Tips

Located just a few minutes by car from Kosode Ama Center, heading toward Kuji, along the prefectural road by the coast. There is a nearby parking area where you can step out and enjoy the view leisurely. Some sections of the walkway are narrow, so be cautious about traffic with children and elderly visitors. Avoid approaching the rocky area on days when waves are high.
