About this spot

From the observatory at Washuzan (鷲羽山), a scenic spot representative of Seto Inland Sea National Park, you can take in a majestic panorama of the roughly 9.4-kilometer Seto Ohashi Bridge stretching island to island toward Shikoku. Below spreads the beauty of the many islands of the Shiwaku Islands (塩飽諸島), and seeing the cars and trains on the bridge looking as small as a model is also a delightful sight for transportation lovers. The switch in perspective, from looking up at the bridge from the boat earlier to now looking down on it from high in the sky, is the special pleasure unique to this course. There is also a promenade leading up to Shoshuho Peak (鐘秀峰) at the summit and a visitor center introducing the nature of the Seto Inland Sea, so you can enjoy the changing scenery while strolling.

Tips

It is a few minutes' walk along a promenade from the parking lot to the observatory. If you extend your visit to Shoshuho Peak (鐘秀峰) at the summit, wear comfortable walking shoes. Since it is an open viewpoint with nothing blocking the sun, do not forget a hat and something to drink on days with strong sunlight.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour. Before noon, the light is favorable, making the blue of the sea stand out and the bridge and islands sharply visible.
