Morning Beach Stroll Among Palm Trees: The Legend of Goshiki Stones
About this spot
A man-made seaside park developed on Iyo City's coastline, featuring a sandy beach lined with palm trees that evokes a tropical atmosphere. The park's name derives from the "Legend of Goshikihi"—it is said that five princesses of the Heike clan, who fled here after losing the Battle of Dannoura, transformed into beautiful five-colored pebbles. The calm, gently sloping shore facing Iyo-nada Bay is perfect for a morning walk. As you search for colorful pebbles along the water's edge, you'll feel as though you've stepped into a storybook from the very start of your journey. While the beach becomes lively with swimmers in summer, mornings are peaceful, allowing you and your companion to leisurely savor the seaside atmosphere.
Tips
The park is within walking distance of JR Iyo-shi Station, and free parking is available. Wear sneakers rather than heels, as you'll be walking on sand. Morning light is clear and brings out the sea's colors beautifully.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour. Early morning with clear light is quieter and perfect for a refreshing beach walk.
