The Starting Point for Shimanami Cycling with a View of the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge

About this spot

This cycling terminal serves as the main gateway on the Imabari side of the Shimanami Kaido cycling route. Located on high ground at the base of the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge, it offers a diverse selection of rental bicycles including cross bikes and electric-assist bicycles. Once you rent a bicycle here, you can head directly onto the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge via the dedicated bicycle and pedestrian path. You'll ride across the world's first triple-suspension bridge, which stretches approximately 4 km, with the sensation of flying over the sea. The facility includes a small shop and an information corner for cyclists, providing expert guidance for your route planning—a reassuring starting point. The time you spend preparing while gazing at the bridge through the windows marks the true beginning of your island adventure.

Tips

Since rental bicycles are limited in number, advance reservation is recommended. If you're preparing for the Kameō Mountain climb, an electric-assist bicycle is more comfortable, but the option for drop-off varies by model, so confirm the return method at the counter. Don't forget to adjust your saddle height and check your brakes before departure.

Best time to visit

Approximately 30 minutes required. Arriving first thing in the morning means shorter rental procedures and allows you to cross the bridge during the cool, golden-hour light.
