The Exhilarating Experience of Walking Across the Lowest Downstream Sunken Bridge on the Yoshii River

A sunken bridge spanning between Ino Town and Hidaka Village at the Yoshii River's lowest downstream point. At approximately 191 meters in length, it is among the longest sunken bridges on the Yoshii River. Its distinctive feature is the absence of railings, designed so that during floods the bridge becomes submerged, allowing driftwood to pass without catching—a testament to the wisdom of those living alongside the river throughout history. It remains an active local road where residents' vehicles slowly cross. Standing on the bridge, an unobstructed vista of the brilliantly blue clear water and green mountains unfolds before you, allowing you to experience the grandeur of the Yoshii River, called the miraculous clear stream, with your entire being.
Tips
The bridge is narrow and vehicle traffic passes through, so when walking, be courteous and yield at passing zones. There is parking for a few vehicles at the bridge approach. Since there are no railings, hold hands with small children and be especially careful on windy days.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 45 minutes. In the afternoon, the shimmer of the water is beautiful, and you can take a leisurely round trip with plenty of time to enjoy.
