About this spot

A roadside station standing along National Route 194, beside the Niyodo River. As a hands-on facility unique to Ino-cho (いの町), the birthplace of Tosa washi paper, it offers an authentic papermaking experience under the guidance of craftsmen. Rock the sukibune (簀桁) frame to scoop up fibers, and you'll complete a one-of-a-kind sheet of washi paper. Inside is a restaurant where you can enjoy dishes made with local ingredients while taking in the scenery of the Niyodo River. The specialty goods corner is stocked with Tosa washi sundries and local produce, and the craft-making menu is rich, including weaving experiences. It's a craft village that makes you want to linger, not just stop by along the way.

Tips

For the papermaking experience, it's reassuring to check the reception hours and duration at the facility on the day. Since it involves water, clothing with sleeves that roll up easily is recommended. The restaurant can get crowded around lunchtime, so arrive early. The parking lot is spacious and easy to use.

Best time to visit

About 2 hours. If combining lunch with the papermaking experience, arriving right after opening, before noon, goes smoothly.
