The Crescent-Shaped Sandy Beach and Vast Pacific Panorama Visible from Ryuuou Cape

A scenic spot representing Kochi, spread in a crescent between Ryutou Cape and Ryuuou Cape. The contrast of white sand, blue pine trees, and the endless Pacific Ocean beyond has been celebrated in poetry as a beautiful moon-viewing site since ancient times. Walking eastward along the beach, you'll reach Kaizu Shrine (海津見神社), which sits at the tip of Ryuuou Cape and enshrines the deity of the sea. The vast seascape visible through the vermillion torii gate is the most spectacular view on this course. Searching for the "five-colored stones" (五色の石)—small colorful pebbles unique to Katsurahama—is a special beach activity that will captivate children. With the sea breeze on your skin, fully experience the Pacific, which is the star of this tour.
Tips
Katsurahama has strong waves and swimming is prohibited. Keep watch over children near the water's edge and be alert for sudden large waves. Sneakers are recommended for beach walking. The beach is just a short walk from Katsurahama Park parking lot (paid parking).
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour required. Around midday, when the sun is high, the contrast between the blue ocean and white sand is most vivid.
