This stone arch bridge spans the Notori River at the entrance to the castle town. According to tradition, it was built by the Akizuki Domain, modeled after the famous Megane-bashi (眼鏡橋) in Nagasaki, and is a rare example nationwide of a stone bridge constructed from granite, a hard stone that is difficult to work with. The gentle arc of the bridge reflects in the river's surface, creating an image that truly resembles eyeglasses when mirrored in the water. Surrounded by greenery and the murmur of the stream, the scene unfolds like a postcard. You can descend to the riverbed from the bridge's base for powerful shots looking up at the arch—an essential photo stop on your castle town stroll.

Tips

The area around the bridge has narrow roads and vehicle traffic, so be mindful of your footing and surroundings when photographing. If you descend to the riverbed, non-slip shoes are advisable. The bridge is a short walk from Sugi no Baba, so allow extra time in your schedule.
