A Seaside Stroll Along White Sands Called the Blue Angel

About this spot

A beach that traces a white arc along the coastline of Kasari Town near Amami Airport. Beloved for its stunningly beautiful sea color, it's affectionately known as the "Blue Angel" and boasts some of the island's most transparent waters. The shallow sea creates layer upon layer of gradation between white sand and blue coral, and a simple walk along the waterline soothes the soul. Around the rocky areas, colorful fish peek out, and in the quiet inlets flows the island's relaxed pace. Because this modest beach lacks large tourist facilities, it's a place where you can feel like you've monopolized the pristine Amami blue.

Tips

While the sea is beautiful, the current can be swift in certain areas and there are no lifeguards on duty, so it's safer to enjoy the beach by walking only at the water's edge rather than venturing offshore. There's almost no shade, so don't forget sun protection and bring something to drink. Sandals that are easy to slip on and off are convenient for walking on the sand.

Best time to visit

Approximately 45 minutes. The sea's transparency stands out most clearly in the morning when the sun is still low.
