A Stunning Cape Overlooking 270 Degrees of Ocean and Takara Island

About this spot

A park developed at the tip of a peninsula jutting toward the Pacific Ocean, boasting one of Nanjo City's finest scenic vistas with a 270-degree view of the vast ocean. Below stretches the coral reef sea shifting from emerald green to deep blue, while Takara Island (久高島) and Komaka Island (コマカ島) float on the horizon. A walking trail continues from the grassy plaza to the cape's tip, and it's delightful to rest at the red-tile pavilion while enjoying the sea breeze. Being close to Saitani Utaki, viewing Takara Island again from the open cape after worshipping it from the sacred site deepens your sense of this land's profound connection to the sea. Best of all, admission is free.

Tips

The parking lot is free, and the walking trail descends via stairs to the cape's tip. With little shade, don't forget a hat and drinks. On windy days, be careful not to lose your hat to the sea breeze. The grassy plaza is open and easily walkable for small children, but stay behind the railings.

Best time to visit

Approximately 45 minutes. In the late morning when the sun is high, the ocean's blue appears most vivid.
