Located near the gate of Negoro-ji Temple (根来寺), this michi-no-eki roadside station is famous for its direct sales corner displaying fruits and local vegetables that Kinokawa is proud of. Kinokawa is renowned throughout Wakayama Prefecture for its peaches, pears, and persimmons, and during the harvest season, you can purchase fresh fruit at reasonable prices. With snack corners and dining venues featuring local ingredients, it's the ideal place to start your day's activities with a light lunch. On the day of the fireworks festival, expect congestion from late afternoon onward, so it's recommended to purchase souvenirs in the morning hours. As a warm-up for your journey, take time to experience the authentic local flavors at a leisurely pace.
Tips
Conveniently located just off the Negoro IC exit on the Hanwa Expressway, making it ideal for driving. For perishable fruits and delicate items, bring a cooler bag or plan to repurchase them on the return trip for peace of mind. The parking lot is spacious, but it may become congested from the afternoon onward on the day of the fireworks festival.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes required. Around midday, you'll find the best selection of fresh local produce.
